Hi, I am Rocío Duque. I studied Linguistics and Spanish Literature in the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

I have been teaching Spanish in the United States for 20 years.
I have been a tutor for the Borough of Manhattan Community College (CUNY) and for many ONG's, among other institution.

WHY SPANISH?

There are approximately 105 official languages and hundreds of unofficial languages around the World. Then, why Spanish?

Spanish is one of six official working languages of the United Nations and one of the most used global languages, along with English.

It is spoken on all continents. Spanish is the official language of 22 countries around the World, Spanish is the second most common language in the United States.

According to the 2000 United States Census, Spanish is spoken most frequently at home by about 28.1 million people aged 5 or over. In New Mexico, both Spanish and English have the status of official languages. Although Spanish is not the most spoken language in any one U.S. state, it is the second most spoken language in 43 states and in the District of Columbia.
